State Highway 130 Concession Company engaged Bryant Consultants to investigate the cause of excessive heaving and cracking in the 42-mile-long, 85 mph asphalt toll road and the deep-seated slope failures that occurred in the slopes supporting the toll road’s frontage roads. Bryant’s expansive investigation included performing:
- laboratory testing on 474 borings,
- 517 electrical resistivity scans,
- an analysis of the active zone,
- an evaluation of the contractor’s application of Tex-113-E and Tex-114-E during subgrade compaction, and
- and a rebuttal of numerous expert reports.
As part of the multiple lawsuits and arbitration proceedings arising from this dispute, Dr. John Bryant was deposed on three occasions and testified before an arbitration panel before the dispute was ultimately settled.
